Central Alberta Theatre has been part of the Red Deer cultural community for the past forty years and our contribution to the arts in central Alberta is immeasurable. From presenting an amazing array of large-scale musicals; hosting a season of exceptional dinner theatre to operating and maintaining the Red Deer Memorial Centre, Central Alberta Theatre has made a mark in this City. Our commitment to live theatre is second-to-none and we continue to offer our audiences professionally-run productuions whether it is one of our own plays or hosting international stars such as Bryan Adams.

When the opportunty to lease the old Uptown Cinema Centre presented itself it seemed such a perfect fit for C.A.T. and the community. Not only would we be able to offer a wider variety of cultural events to the city but we would become an integral part of the exciting revitalization of the downtown. Thanks to the support of the City of Red Deer in the form of a grant and a short-term loan we were able to enter into a lease and are now in the midst of the renovation of our newest venue.

Our whole membership is behind this project 100% and in the last month helped to vote on a name for our new facility ... City Centre Stage is set to open in the Summer of 2011. In fact since taking over the building last fall our members have single-handedly done the demolition phase of the project. A small troupe of dedicated volunteers have removed the unwanted seats, ripped up carpet, torn down walls and ceilings and done general cleanup to get to the building ready for our general contractors, Scott Builders.

C.A.T. is more determined than ever to open up exciting new opportunities for the citizens of Red Deer but we do need financial assistance from the business community.
